roofgen.jpg (3173 bytes)The name Bard is derived from Beard or Baird.  Not everyone was winning spelling bees back then and it seemed to formally change during the Civil War.

In 1810 in Ohio County, (West) Virginia Henry Baird is found in the census. In 1820 in Tyler County (West) Virginia Henry Baird is found in the census. In 1819-20 John Henry Beard (Bard) was born in Tyler County.

Tom, Ernie, and Ferne Bard are the small children shown in the photo to the left.  Probably located somewhere in the "mountains" of Kansas, this photo of the family and their home was probably made around 1904.  Some house huh?

A park in Forest Grove, Oregon is named after Tom Bard and his wife Elva.

As you can see above, the Bard name isn't the only name in this family tree. Peer, Bryant, Allison, Marrs, Shibley, Howell, Robison, Cox, Parks, Woodworth, Shonts, Wayman/Wergmann, and others yet to be found belong here.
